Capability 05
Surface Finishing
Buffing, polishing, mirror finishing, bead blasting, brushing, grinding and deburring. This work prepares the surface, and it decides how every coating applied afterwards will look.

In detail
What each step does
Deburring
Every laser-cut edge and every sheared edge is deburred. On a screen or a perforated panel, the cut edges are part of what people see and touch.
Grinding welds flush
Welds are ground back flush before buffing. If they are not, the joint shows as a shadow under a reflective finish.
Buffing & polishing
Done grade by grade, up to a mirror. A mirror finish hides nothing: any distortion left by forming shows in the reflection. That is why the quality of the corner, made earlier, matters at this step.
Hairline & brushed
These finishes have a direction. Agree the grain direction and keep it the same on panels that sit next to each other. If it changes, the surface looks mismatched when light falls across it at a low angle.
Bead blast
An even matte texture. It hides handling marks better than a polished surface does, so it is often the right choice where many people pass.
Always before coating
PVD and powder coating copy the surface under them. A coating put on an unprepared surface shows every scratch that was there first.
In our workshop
The steel finishes,
one by one
Done after the part is bent and welded, so corners, edges and welds carry the same finish. Choose one, and approve it on a real sample.
MirrorPolished to a reflection
For lift cladding, trims and feature panels; It shows fingerprints and scratches most.
HairlineFine lines in one direction
Straight brush lines that hide small marks; on a profile they usually run along its length.
MatteEven and low-shine
A calm surface for large panels, ceilings and furniture.
Bead blastSoft satin, no lines
Blasted with fine beads for an even satin look.
AntiqueA brushed, aged look
Often chosen under bronze or brass tones.
BuffingJoints that disappear
Welds ground flush and buffed so the finish runs across them.
Colour after the fold
PVD and powder coating,
arranged by MCS
Eight PVD colours on stainless steel 304 and 316, and powder coating in any RAL colour on aluminium, mild steel and GI, arranged by MCS through approved coating vendors.
Coloured last, not first
Pre-coloured sheet shows bare metal at every cut and joint. Our parts are cut, grooved, bent, welded and buffed first, then coloured.
Stainless steel only
PVD suits stainless steel 304 and 316, not aluminium or mild steel.
Approve on real metal
No photograph shows a metallic finish truthfully. Approve the colour on a real sample in the base finish you intend.
Powder coating
For aluminium, mild steel and GI parts, powder coating in RAL colours is arranged by MCS through approved coating vendors. Or we supply the parts clean, ready for your own coater.
On film

Turned in the hand, so you see how a finish takes the light.
Filmed in our workshop in Narela, Delhi. The clips are silent and play while on screen; tap one to pause it.

Send the drawing, mark the faces that are seen and give the grain direction. MCS will confirm the finishing steps it needs and what they cost.
