Material
Galvanized Iron
Steel sheet with a zinc coating applied in the factory, which protects it from rust. It is the economical choice for concealed framing, carriers and panels that will be coated by your coater.

Detail
Specifying galvanized iron
| Properties | Mild steel protected by a layer of zinc. It is strong, magnetic, economical and easy to form. |
|---|---|
| Where to specify | Sub-frames, carriers, brackets, back panels, ceiling components and other work that is concealed or coated by your coater. |
| Finishes | The natural zinc surface where appearance is not critical, or supplied ready for your coater. We do not powder coat. Galvanized iron is not PVD coated or mirror polished. |
| Fabrication notes | It cuts and bends cleanly. Cut edges and welded areas lose their zinc layer and need protection, usually a coating by your coater. |
| Confirm before specifying | For exposed or exterior work, confirm the coating and finish with MCS before you detail around it. |
